Bio
Brady Dollyhigh is a self-taught contemporary artist based in Denver, working primarily as a painter while also exploring sculptural forms, often blurring the line between the two practices. Developing work outside of formal academic settings, Dollyhigh began exhibiting work at a young age, quickly gaining recognition for a distinctive visual language that explores themes of self perception, isolation, and the psychology of structure and space.
At the age of 25, Dollyhigh has already mounted multiple successful solo exhibitions in Denver, including shows at Leon Gallery and Bell Projects, establishing a strong reputation within the region’s contemporary art scene. His work, known for its strong physicality, layered textures, bold color palettes, and surreal subject matter, reflects a deep commitment to uncover something truly raw and human.
As his career continues to evolve, Dollyhigh is focused on expanding their practice into new markets and curatorial contexts, seeking opportunities to engage with broader audiences across the national and international art world. His work is held in private collections in Colorado, and has been featured in The Denver Post, and Denver Channel 7 news.
Statement
When I started painting I was trying to say something definitive about reality and over the years that has changed quite a bit. Now I feel that I’m confronting everything that to me- will never be definitive. Late at night, alone in a box with a brush I dwell on everything that I am, that I hope for and that I dread. I want to unravel myself and see what creatures come out when I lay still.
Now what I’ve found is a world of spiders and pyramids. Heads and castles. Smiling and lying faces looking at me without eyes. Manifestations of unending searches and places to hide away.
I imagine myself deep in a pyramid. I imagine myself as a spider. I imagine I’m not myself at all.
And now my world of intimate meditations are made public.
